All the good ideas
In a recent encounter with an old acquaintance, I was reminded of ideas and projects that I developed and presented many years ago that are now regarded as fresh and exciting in the work of emerging artists.
Back in the day, I was told by several associates that I was barking up the wrong tree, since I was creating things that didn’t fit the prevailing model of the time.
A few years later, I noticed some of the same advisers trying their hands at the sort of work that I had already done.
I don’t hold it against them that they might have distracted me from following my personal muse. It was up to me to trust my intuition and remain focused on staying in my lane.
In any case, maturity has taught me that I should focus on speaking my truth. Trends and fashions come and go, but magic has the potential to stand outside of time.
