Dealing with nature
Seeing and getting are not always compatible. Nature and nurture are not the same. People tend to agree when these assertions are presented in abstract terms, but in real life they tend to struggle with accepting what they truly mean.
A narrative has been peddled for many years to people of African descent about ‘shoulds’ and ‘shouldn’ts’. Everyone is entitled to have opinions and to share them.
On the other hand, anyone who is being honest with his or her authentic self will probably accept that she or he might have some values or beliefs that are not rooted in party lines or ideologies.
Superficial assessments of character are part of life’s rich tapestry. Joys and sorrows are but two sides of the same coin when they are considered in the wider scheme of things.
In the long run we should all aim to make the best use of any assets we have.
