Flying high on connection
Much has been expressed about reducing carbon footprints in recent years. Many of us still look forward to flying in aeroplanes to distant locations, however.
The current disruption has forced us to severely cut down our reliance on airlines. In the short term, this is bad news for folks in the aviation trade. On the other side of the coin, there have been beneficial developments for those of us who are not part of the jet set.
Organisations that usually set up events in specific locations, requiring interested parties to be present in person, have taken to setting up webinars instead.
Webinars are providing access to information which wasn’t available to non globe trotters in the past. This is indeed something to be thankful for.
Who knows what ideas will emerge from the new modes of communication? One can only hope that these changes will be incorporated into regular practice when it becomes safer to fly once more.
