Good times

When the times were a swinging, we used to hold impromptu events at the drop of a hat. It wasn’t as if we had loads of money or resources, but there was a huge amount of optimism and good will in our circle.

Opportunities arose and we grabbed them, sharing experiences in a wide range of locations, getting into all sorts of scrapes. Little did we know that we should have savoured those times more deeply.

Time has a way of moving things along. A person reaches a point in life, looks around and realises that magic doesn’t happen every day. As an aged trouper once aptly described it, “You can’t turn it on like a tap”.

If there are any lessons to be learnt from this, living in the present moment as much as possible is probably the most important one.

Memories can be sweet, bitter, a combination of both or something in between, but once an experience is gone, that’s the end of that story.
