Local and global outlooks

There was a time when I subscribed to the idea that ways of life that could be described as “local” were nowhere near as interesting as those that are seen to be “global”.

I have come across many folks who feel most comfortable when they can easily pigeon hole the cultural outlooks of other people they meet.

It is possible that I might have invested more attention and energy in challenging those who do this than I needed to do.

Trying to change other people’s attitudes is futile. It makes much more sense to just get on with being one’s self.

Those of us who feel the urge to engage with our fellow humans across borders, boundaries, traits, characteristics and other details should simply answer to the calling.
