Looking for mind space

The term “a piece of the mind” is one that I came across many years ago in the expressed ideas of folks in the marketing business and also in a wider political context.

Missionaries did a lot of the work for colonialists in the 19th and early 20th century for example. They helped to spread notions about one way of life being more desirable than others. The indoctrination was linked with the benefits of Western education, using a “carrot on the stick” approach to people in cultures other than their own.

The mindset of regarding “The Bible and Shakespeare” as the ultimate sources of noble values was successful imprinted into millions of subconscious minds.

Hollywood and Radio stations took up the baton of global conditioning and contributed another layer of information that functions as a filter of perception for many people.

One of the great things about the current era of internet search engines and social media platforms is that the rest of the world has an opportunity to offer other ideas and promises. The model is changing, slowly but surely.
