Maintaining healthy habits

I fell off the wagon of healthy eating habits last week. I don’t feel too guilty about this, because I was away from home and didn’t have access to a kitchen for a while. Usually, I do my best to avoid certain types of carbohydrates, but because I wanted an occasional quick fix hot meal, I ended up eating a burrito with Mexican fries for one lunch, for example.

I guess I could have easily gone to greasy spoon cafes and chosen hot meals that are relatively healthy, but I didn’t feel inclined in that direction, and besides, I don’t know where they are located in the Leeds city centre.

Adhering religiously to my early morning short cardiovascular exercise routine, I was too fatigued each day after work to go to a gym, so I let my regular routine slide a little.

At the back of my mind, I dreaded standing on the scales once I returned home. I also drank cans of cocktail drinks on several consecutive evenings while I was away. To my surprise, I wasn’t too far away from my average weight when I did pluck up the courage to weigh myself. I guess one should be thankful for small mercies.

Falling off the wagon for 5 or 6 days probably isn’t enough to undo the benefits of the routine I’ve stuck to for 5 years now, I’m pleased to report.
