Oh, to be a role model

Being singled out to be a role model for desired modes of behaviour is probably flattering to some people.

Is this an outcome that makes them feel special and somehow superior to others? One can only speculate about each person’s experience.

It seems as if many of us have moved on from the times when it was regarded as remarkable to be a mannequin, however. We want to have the power to make choices.

Perhaps this development in the zeitgeist is accountable for a lot of the messiness that is reported by media outlets nowadays.

Paying lip service to the necessity for all of us to buy into values such as equal rights is no longer enough. We all want to know what such concepts really entail when they are put into practice.
