On mentors
Is it best to make things up as one goes through life, or is it useful to have mentors or guides who can nudge us in the appropriate direction?
Those with mentors might get a head start in making choices that can lead to security and comfort, but further down the path, they have to start making choices just like everyone else.
It might seem haphazard to develop direction focused muscles through trial and error, but each of us should be attentive to knowing what is most suitable for our authentic selves.
When we stray off into areas that are not ultimately where we need to be, there is usually something we can learn from the process that can help us when we get our bearings right again.
Tuning in to one’s inner compass ought to be a priority in education and child rearing.
