Reassessing our assumptions

In this time of reflection, perhaps it would be beneficial to many of us if we could closely scrutinise our assumptions.

Some people face unnecessary obstacles in life, because others assume that they are knowledgeable about authenticity.

If I see a group of London based Argentines performing tango music and dance, I might be within my rights to comment on the ambience they evoke, in comparison to the delightful scenes I witnessed in the Tango Milongas of Buenos Aires, but I would also accept that re-enactments of cultural practices in far removed locations are likely to be modified to an extent.

The past is another country. Goalposts have shifted and individuals are more likely to be appreciated for their personal attributes as artists nowadays than before.

What difference is this moment going to make, regarding our preconceived notions about each other?
