Seeing beyond a sense of bearings

Categories and descriptive terms of reference are helpful for gaining a sense of bearings in the world, but they are only as restrictive to personal expression as each of us allows them to be.

When a person is called upon to identify someone or something, he or she is likely to use words that are generally accepted as means of categorisation, but this is usually a label that doesn’t fully encapsulate whatever is being described.

In many cases I have missed out on opportunities to experience a particular sensation, possibly due to hang ups, based on descriptive terms.

Each new moment offers me the power to change my mindset towards open minded perception. Perhaps I always knew this was the case, but I was distracted by the signs, symbols and signals around me.

One exciting thing about being constantly engaged in the process of learning, with folks of all ages is the realisation that knowledge truly is powerful.
