Sustaining connections

With the passing of time, it becomes clear that values, bonds and connections shared by people only retain their strength when efforts are made to keep them alive.

This observation might come across as banal or obvious, but understanding the process of how these things work can only be experienced in real time.

Holding onto past associations might seem to be futile from some perspectives, if the urges or opportunities to align them with the present are limited.

At moments when one comes across folks who were once part of the same social circle, a lot of time can be spent on reflecting about what was, and what might have been.

The past is another country. Nothing can be done to reconfigure things that happened way back then. The best we can do is engage with each other in the present, to decide whether or not there is any mileage in moving forward together.
