Who knows what it feels like to be lured into making a commitment, only to find out that the goalposts of the original agreement are going to be shifted at will, depending on the whims and caprices of the person who made the offer?

It is because of scenarios such as this that some lawyers are so prosperous. Somewhere along the line, a person with good intentions gets double crossed and he or she decides to expend energy on extracting justice from the situation.

Looking after number one is sometimes described as selfish. When it involves stepping on anyone else’s toes, perhaps that might be true.
