Tricks of the trade

A well known public figure once spoke about the process of sustaining longevity in his trade. He compared it to running a sweet shop and described in very simple terms his ideas about keeping customers interested.

Some of the work would go into the display of goods in the space. Which items are most popular? Where are they placed in the overall layout of the shop’s merchandise?

Another factor would be the ambience. What is a customer supposed to feel when they enter the space? How can those feelings be effectively generated?

The signs outside and the shop front window are the images that the customers sees first of all. How can they be used to entice people into entering the shop?

Lots of choices and decisions are made about these elements. How often do they come together to present a congruent image?
